Kannada Subtitles Generator: Kannada, Kanglish or English Captions
Make animated Kannada captions in Kannada script, Kanglish (Roman script) or English. Word-synced subtitles for Reels, Shorts and YouTube.
Kannada captions for how people actually read#
A lot of Kannada content sounds like Bengaluru: Kannada sentences with English words dropped in. Some of your viewers read Kannada script comfortably, many read Kanglish faster on a phone, and others only follow English. One upload gives you any of the three:
Kannada and Kanglish captions share the same word timestamps, so the highlight sits on each word as it's spoken.
How to add Kannada subtitles to a video#
- Upload your video. Kannada, English or a mix of both is fine.
- Choose Original, Romanized or English for the captions.
- Pick an animated style from the caption styles. Word-by-word captions suit fast comedy timing; karaoke highlights work well for longer explainers.
- Fix, style and export. Correct any word, recolor a line or a single word, add music or sound effects, and export the video.
Which mode should you pick?#
- Kannada script suits news, devotional and literary content, and viewers who prefer reading Kannada.
- Kanglish suits casual Bengaluru-style talk, comedy and tech content where English words come up every few seconds. It keeps those English terms looking natural instead of spelling them out in Kannada script.
- English helps when a clip travels beyond Karnataka, for example a startup explainer shared on LinkedIn or a film review aimed at a pan-India audience.
All three cost the same, so pick what your audience reads fastest, not what is cheapest.
Fix and style on a real timeline#
Names of actors, places in Bengaluru and brand names are where any transcript can slip. Every word sits on a timeline, so you can rename it, drag it to the right moment or trim its length. Highlight a punchline in a different color, make one word bigger, or recolor a whole line to mark a quote.
Who uses it#
- Film update and review pages cutting Sandalwood news into vertical clips.
- Comedy and sketch creators whose punchlines need captions that land on the exact word.
- Tech and startup explainers in Bengaluru who switch between Kannada and English mid-sentence.
- Kannada creators reaching non-Kannada viewers, posting the same clip with English subtitles.
Why not just use auto captions?#
Auto captions inside Instagram or YouTube give you a plain font and little say over timing. Supercaptions gives you word-level sync, dozens of animated templates, per-word color and emphasis, captions that can sit behind the speaker, and a timeline editor for corrections.

Frequently asked questions
- What does Kanglish mean in captions?
- Kanglish captions show spoken Kannada in English letters, the way people type Kannada on WhatsApp and in comments. The words stay exactly as spoken; only the script changes.
- Can I turn a Kannada video into English subtitles?
- Yes. Pick English when you create the project and each caption line is translated and placed on the part of the speech it belongs to. Line timing follows the speaker; the word-by-word highlight inside an English line is approximate, because Kannada and English order words differently.
- I speak half Kannada, half English. Will it still work?
- Yes. Mixed Kannada and English speech is transcribed as spoken. In Kanglish mode the whole line is written in Roman letters, so the English words don't look out of place.
- Is Kanglish or English more expensive than Kannada script?
- No. All three modes cost the same: one credit per second of audio. New accounts get 2 free minutes to try it.
- Can I switch an existing video to a different caption mode?
- Yes, with Rescript. It transcribes the audio again in the mode you choose, so it uses credits again. Small fixes don't need it: you can edit any word and retime it on the timeline.
