Tamil Subtitles Generator: Tamil, Tanglish or English Captions
Create animated Tamil captions in Tamil script, Tanglish (Roman script) or English. Word-synced subtitles for Reels, Shorts and YouTube videos.
Tamil captions, three ways#
Tamil audiences read in different ways. Some prefer Tamil script, many read faster in Tanglish, and some of your viewers don't speak Tamil at all. Supercaptions makes all three from one upload:
The Tamil and Tanglish versions use the same word timestamps, so every highlight lands on the word as it is spoken.
How to add Tamil subtitles to a video#
- Upload your video. Speech in Tamil, English or a mix of both is fine.
- Choose Original, Romanized or English for the caption language.
- Pick a style. Browse the animated caption styles, from clean karaoke highlights to bold single-word pops.
- Adjust and export. Edit words, change colors per line or per word, drag captions on the canvas, add music, then export the video.
Made for Tamil creators#
- Cinema, review and reaction channels that need fast, readable captions on vertical clips.
- Cooking and lifestyle creators speaking colloquial Tamil, where Tanglish reads more naturally than formal script.
- Teachers and tech explainers who mix Tamil with English terms.
- Creators growing beyond Tamil Nadu who post the same clip with English subtitles for a wider audience.
Better than built-in auto captions#
Built-in captions in Instagram or YouTube give you little control over style and timing. Here you get word-level sync, animated templates, per-word emphasis and a full timeline editor for corrections.

Frequently asked questions
- What are Tanglish captions?
- Tanglish captions write spoken Tamil in Roman letters, the way many people type Tamil in chats and comments. Viewers who speak Tamil but read faster in English letters can follow along easily.
- Can I get English subtitles for a Tamil video?
- Yes. Choose English when you create the project. Each caption line is translated and placed on the matching part of the speech. The line timing follows the speaker exactly; the word-by-word highlight inside an English line is approximate, because English word order is different from Tamil.
- Does it work when I mix Tamil and English?
- Yes. Code-switched speech is transcribed as spoken. In Tanglish mode the whole line is in Roman script, so the English words sit naturally next to the Tamil ones.
- How much does it cost?
- Tamil, Tanglish and English captions all use the same credits: one credit per second of audio. New accounts get 2 free minutes.
- Can I correct a word?
- Yes. Every word can be edited in the editor and retimed on the timeline.
